Final Phase of the Siena International School on Sustainable Development 2022

The Siena International School on Sustainable Development 2022 returns on campus on Monday, 13 June, at Santa Chiara Lab – University of Siena, higher education for skills in key areas of sustainable development, dedicated to decarbonization. Together with the international experts and teachers, including the Italian Minister Enrico Giovannini and Professor Jeffrey Sachs, economist at Columbia University, 30 participants selected for the final phase of the School will be the game changers for carbon neutrality.

Energy Transition, costs and opportunities: Highlights from the Lecture by Stefano Besseghini

Stefano Basseghini, President of the Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment (ARERA), held the tenth lesson of phase 2 of the Siena International School on Sustainable Development about “Energy Transition: costs and opportunities”. Stefano Basseghini discussed current energy strategies for achieving decarbonization and decentralization, as well as the ARERA’s role in regulating service distribution.

Sustainable Finance, SDGs, and the European Green Deal

On May 3rd, the SDSN’s Senior Working Group on the European Green Deal launched their 2nd Annual Report, “Financing the Transformations for the Joint Implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal”. This event featured the launch of the 2nd report from the SDSN Senior Working Group on the European Green Deal highlighting policy advancements and sustainable finance, where the main co-authors presented the results of the report, followed by an open discussion and elaboration on the key messages by a panel of invited speakers consisting of top academics and politicians.

Angelo Riccaboni, School director, Co-Chair of the SDSN Europe, held the eighth lesson of the phase 2 of the Siena International School on Sustainable Development about “The Grammar of Sustainability, the alignment of agrifood companies to SDGs”. He emphasized the reduction of emissions, innovation adoption, and better measurement tools for sustainability for the transformation of the food system.
