Regional Conference of Youth – RCOY Eastern Europe 2022
27/10/2022 - 29/10/2022

RCOY Eastern Europe 2022 is the Regional Conference of Youth for Climate Change, officially endorsed by YOUNGO (Children and Youth constituency to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, UNFCCC), aiming to connect youth from the 25 Eastern European countries (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine).
Youth gather to discuss and be part of the climate conversation and prepare a policy document on the existing challenges and threats concerned around climate change in the region.
The RCOY, being a simulation of the Global COY (i.e. the official children and youth precursor event of COP) strives for universal accessibility, true inclusion and diversity of youth voices at climate negotiation from across a global region.
The theme of the RCOY Eastern Europe 2022 is “Youth Employment and Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities”, highlighting the impact of climate change/crisis on youth employment, and the opportunities that climate change adaptation and mitigation measures can create for youth employment and the impact youth employment can have on climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The youth statement that will be written during the conference, will be collated and crafted into a global youth statement which is formally recognised and submitted to policy makers during the UN Climate Negotiations.
RCOY Eastern Europe is taking place on 27-29 October 2022, online. Participation is free and open to all.
